Welcome to Shakedown Custom Rods, my name is Stan McLean. When I started building custom rods I was looking for a rod that both looked and performed better than a commercially purchased rod. I began by using many features not found in a store bought rod, such as split grip handles, modified reel seats, and spiral wrapped Fuji concept guides, just to name a few. What I found is each of these modifications helps to maximize the rod blanks potential. Each rod is customized for the new owner- both in terms of function as well as design. Whether it is a G.Loomis crankbait rod with a Fuji exposed blank reel seat or a St. Croix dropshot rod with a split Tennessee handle and REC recoil guides, I will work with you to find the best technique-specific blank to match your fishing needs.

In most cases, I can build a custom rod for just about the same price or less then a factory rod.
